23rd January 2007

Alistair brought his split bus in for a lower cab door hinge repair.
At the weekend we flew to Vienna to bring home our new projects. It was a pretty eventful trip. The full story is here: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=215377 but here are a few more pictures and a brief story.
Ernst collected us from the airport in 'Steve McCube'..

We went to the garage and snapped a lot of pictures of a few 'For sale' vehicles, such as this rust free original 71 bus. ..and this stickered '67 beetle.
Here's Ernst's red dasher awaiting big lump in time for European Bug in later in the year. And a rusty but complete factory black '62 Notch he is selling. This gasser style small window bug is also awaiting a new owner. We pulled the cars out into the open, as it was much warmer than inside! and checked them over.We then hit the road towards Germany. It was a warm sunny day and we snapped a few pics.
With regular fuel stops..and stayed in a motel when the weather turned.Sunday we awoke early and hit the road once again. Another fuel stop in Germany and a chance to snap some pictures.Back on the road and a picture opportunity as we pass Bad Camberg. The beetle developed a problem, but we made the ferry. And after the ferry we made it home. We checked the compression yesterday on the Beetle and it has zero on number 2 cylinder, so a rebuild is on the cards. Here it is outside the workshop with a customers' '61 ragtop. Both cars have 'updated' rear lights.
